Andy Young, Director of Advancement
My love for camp started long before it became my career. I started attending camps myself at a very young age; panning for gold in the rain, gathering around the fire for ghost stories, and having counselors who were patient and kind during one of the hardest times of my life. These experiences and mentors planted a seed that never stopped growing. I've been chasing that magic ever since.
After earning a degree in Outdoor Recreation, Resource Management, and Parks Administration from Indiana University and a Master's in Nonprofit Management from IU's O'Neill School of Public and Environmental Affairs, I spent more than twenty years in nonprofit and youth development; leading strategy, fund development, and partnership growth at organizations like Foundation For Youth and Bradford Woods. I am also a TBRI Practitioner and Certified Professional Youth Worker.
Joining Happy Hollow as Director of Advancement feels like coming full circle. I am excited to help build the systems and relationships that will carry this organization into its next 75 years.
My wife and I are raising three daughters who have fully inherited our love of the outdoors. Together we hike and camp our way through Indiana and National Parks, keeping a running list of everywhere we've been... and everywhere we still want to go. I'm also an artist and illustrator of the Caye Boy children's book series and others.
