What
are the ages for children to be able to attend Happy Hollow
Camp?
At Happy Hollow we serve children between
the ages of 7 – 14.

How
are the children divided into groups?
The children are divided into cabin groups
of 6 – 9 boys or 6 – 9 girls based on their ages.

|
|
Are
the children supervised 24 hours a day?
Yes the children will have two staff members that will
stay in cabin with the children while they are at camp. One of
the staff members is the cabin counselor he or she is the person
that will lead the cabin group to each of their activities
through the week. The other staff member is a program specialist
during the day they will be in charge of running a specific
program, such as canoeing, kayaking, or horseback riding. During
meals and at night they will be with the group |

Who
do you hire as staff member?
At Happy Hollow we hire mainly college
students from the state of
Indiana. We also partner with
Camp Counselors
USA to bring in
staff from different countries. These staff members are able to
teach about and share their different cultures with the children
while at camp. We have had staff from Australia, New Zealand,
South Africa, France, Columbia, Russia, England, Ireland, and
many more. Each group will have in their possession a two
way emergency radio and first aid pack. All staff members
are trained in first aid and CPR.

Does
Happy Hollow do Background Checks?
Happy Hollow uses National Background to
complete yearly background checks on all the employees and
volunteers to work with the camp. We check for the county
criminal and nation wide sexual offender report.

What
type of activities do you offer at camp?
At Happy Hollow we offer a traditional camp
experience for the children attending camp.
We have horse back riding, archery, a small barn with
farm animals, gardening, arts & crafts, canoeing, Kayaking,
fishing, swimming, hiking, nature studies, team building
activities, campouts, mountain biking. We also have basketball,
tennis, zip line and many other activities.

Are
the children required to wear life jackets while in the lake?
When the children are in the swimming area
they are able to swim without a life jacket. When they are in a
boat or near the water outside of the swimming area they are
required to wear a life jacket.
|

|
|
Are
there lifeguards present while the children are swimming?
All swimming is done in Happy Hollow’s lake
in a confined swim area where certified lifeguards are present
and on duty at all times. Swimmers are given a swim
ability test prior to being allowed in the deep water.
